How to Wear a Yukata

Request to Wear Traditional Clothing (Yukata)

In order to maintain an atmosphere evocative of Japanese culture and history, we request that only our costumes and/or similar kimonos and traditional Japanese clothing be worn inside the facility.

Men

Place the left side over the right, and take the obi.

Place the left side over the right, and take the obi.

Turn the obi around your back so that its center comes to the middle of your stomach.

Cross the obi behind your back and turn it to the front.

Tie the obi in a bow at the front, and then turn it so it goes to your back.

WomenSun Dress Type

Put on the sun dress so the end of the cloth comes to the front.

Put on the overgarment.

Tie the string inside the overgarment.

Tie the string outside the overgarment, and take the obi.

Turn the obi around your back so that its center comes to the middle of your stomach.

Cross the obi behind your back and turn it to the front.

Tie the obi in a bow at the front, and then turn it so it goes to your back.

WomenWrapped-Skirt Type

Put on the skirt so the end of the cloth comes to the front.

Thread the string.

Bring the string to the front.

Tie the string in a bow.

Put on the overgarment.

Tie the string inside the overgarment.

Tie the string outside the overgarment, and take the obi.

Turn the obi around your back so that its center comes to the middle of your stomach.

Cross the obi behind your back and turn it to the front.
